Return of the Blues: Downtown North Bend construction was no match for Blues Walk fans Saturday, Sept. 23

A condensed venue list and a construction zone on North Bend Way may have kept some people away from the North Bend Blues Walk Saturday, Sept. 23, but it seemed to be just the ticket for the crowds and dancers packed into Twede’s Cafe, Valley Center Stage, The Moose Lodge and a dozen other downtown spots.

Dancers filled the aisles at The North Bend Theatre with every song from Red House, and listeners lined up outside the bursting Pioneer Coffee to catch some of Nick Vigarino’s dazzling guitar work. At JazzClubsNW’s venue in the old North Bend fire station, fans enjoyed the sounds of the Two Scoops Combo and later Mary Ellen Lykins and the CC Adams Band, spilling out through the bay doors and into the street. And throughout downtown, blinking blue LED lights helped participants navigate the safest routes between venues, from Chaplin’s and Chang Thai on one end of the street, to The Moose

Participants wove their way to venues throughout the downtown with the help of blinking blue LED lights marking the safe routes

“We were thrilled with our Blues Walk event on Saturday night,” said Gregory Malcolm, executive director of the host organization, JazzClubsNW. “Strong presales and event day purchases ultimately gave us nearly 1,200 attendees between 6 p.m. and midnight.”

JazzClubsNW also sponsors the North Bend Jazz Walk in the spring. Learn more at http://www.jazzclubsnw.org.
