The Tony Award-winning “Once on this Island” is coming to Chief Kanim Middle School this week.
The one-act musical pits love against death. Set in the idyllic French Antilles, where nature can be bountiful and terrible, the story follows a young woman, Ti Moune, who challenges social barriers and death in pursuit of love.
Chief Kanim students have been relentlessly rehearsing under Laurie Hancock’s direction. The performance promises to delight the ears and eyes with superb choreography, costumes and singing.
• Show Times: 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 7 and 8; 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Chief Kanim Middle School
