The city of North Bend is inviting the community to the re-opening of Torguson Park. At 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, the city will cut the ribbon on the recently completed park upgrades.
Visitors can test out the park’s new features and paths and enjoy a barbecue with the Snoqualmie Police Department.
Beginning construction in October 2016, the renovation project was a $1.7 million investment in the North Bend park. Some of the upgrades to the park include relocated and improved sports field, new trails, new restroom and concession buildings, eight new covered dugouts and benches, and new fencing.
Funding for the project came from a $127,250 grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, a donation of $80,000 from Little League, an $87,000 insurance claim for damages to buildings from a nearby gas explosion in 2014 and city funds of approximately $1.3 million.
