The Sammamish Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor and music director Adam Stern, announces its 2017-18 concert season, which begins Oct. 14 with a special performance at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
The remainder of the season, five concerts and eight performances is based in in Sammamish and Bellevue. Season and single tickets are on sale now.
Opening the concert season is a A choral spectacular featuring two Requiem settings, plus a viola concerto with guest soloist Aloysia Friedmann, 2 p.m., Oct. 14 at Benaroya Hall.
The traditional holiday “pops” program with music of the season, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at Eastlake High School, and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at Meydenbauer Theatre.
Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony, plus music by Mozart and Ravel with tenor soloist Marcus Shelton is on the schedule for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9 at Meydenbauer Theatre and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 at Eastlake High School.
The Russian Soul concert is performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Meydenbauer Theatre, and the season closes in a blaze of Romanticism with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Eastlake High School – Sunday, June 10, and 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15 at Meydenbauer Theatre.
