Seattle sports stars kicked off the festivities for this year’s Boeing Classic on Monday, Aug. 8, at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge.
Local celebrities — including former members of the Seahawks, Mariners, Huskies and Cougars — gathered to play the annual Seahawks Rumble at the The Ridge charity fundraiser for the benefit of the Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
BRI is a world leader in human immunology, whose mission is to predict, prevent, reverse and cure diseases that impact the immune system. That includes autoimmune diseases, cancer and COVID-19.
“Philanthropy plays a crucial role in BRI’s work,” Jane Buckner, President of the Benaroya Research Institute, said in a press release. “We are so grateful for Boeing, the PGA Tour and all the community members who support the Boeing Classic.”
“Your support brings us closer to achieving our vision of a healthy immune system for everyone,” she said.
The Seahawks event is the first in a series of festivities being held this week leading up to this weekend’s PGA Tour Champions’ Boeing Classic. It featured many notable Seahawks alumni, including Jermaine Kearse, Kam Chancellor and Tyler Lockett
The Boeing Classic will start on Friday, Aug. 12, with a Boeing Jet Flyover at 11:15 a.m. followed by first-round tee-offs at 11:30.
