SLIDESHOW: Carnation’s community Fourth of July

The community of Carnation hosted a full day of Fourth of July fun, with plenty of activities to thrill the senses.

Children and adults jumped, weaved and shot at the first-ever Just Moo It! basketball tournament. Runners competed for sweet rewards in the Run for the Pies, and car buffs showed off their hard work and classic finds in the Hot Rods and Harleys show. The Sno Valley Senior Center and street vendors filled tummies with old-fashioned strawberry shortcake and the air with the smell of burgers on the grill.

The annual children’s and grand parade also saw plenty of entries. Judges handed out the following parade awards:

Best drill team: Cowgirl Spirit

Best float: Snoqualmie Tribe Canoe Family/Sno-Valley Senior Center (tie)

Best horse entry: Ixtapa horses

Best vehicles: Northwest Vintage Iron

Best fire truck: Eastside Fire & Rescue

Best band: Cedarcrest High School Marching Band

Best clowns/comedy: Mini-Bikes

Novelty award: SnoValley Little League All Stars

Best commercial entry : Naturescape

Best political entry: Kathy Lambert

Best musical entry: Ixtapa Marachi Band

Grand Marshall Award: Ixtapa Marachi Band and horses

Run for the Pies 5K winners

The following are the top finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions in the Carnation Run for the Pies, held Sunday in downtown Carnation

Men’s division:

First place: Aiden Irish, 19, of Duvall; 15:35.2

Second place: Drake Da Ponte, 20, of North Bend; 16:15.7

Third place: Joe Sheeran, 52;16:36.9

Women’s division:

First place: Jennie Tave, 19, of Claremont, Calif.; 18:23.2

Second place: Alice Frazier, 31, of Port Townsend; 18:30.2

Third place: Sarah Gist, 37, of Seattle; 18:30.4
