Snoqualmie Sunflower Festival: Join the Carnation Chamber of Commerce for its inaugural Snoqualmie Valley Sunflower Festival from Aug. 23 to Sep. 15. Several farms around the Valley are participating in the festival, kicking off at Lora Lee’s Family Farm, 17651 W. Snoqualmie River Rd. NE in Duvall, with live music and vendors on Saturday, Aug. 24. The 2024 Snoqualmie Valley Sunflower Celebration will be held on Sept. 7 at the Tolt Commons in Carnation. A map of the participating farms can be found on the Carnation Chamber of Commerce website. SR 906 Cleanup: Meet WSDOT and Dru Bru at 10 Pass Life Way #3 to participate in an SR 906 cleanup event. Participants will leave the taproom around 9:30 a.m. Aug. 31 and clean up litter along the state route. Volunteers returning to the taproom at 11 a.m. must sign a WSDOT waiver and watch a short informational video before heading out. They will receive a token for a Dru Bru beverage and be entered into a raffle to earn prizes. For more information, contact info@drubru.com.

Women’s Self-Defense Workshop: Head over to Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, 385565 SE River St. in Snoqualmie, for its first free monthly women’s self-defense workshop from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 31. Classes are open to ages 12+, but Renzo Gracie advises that they will be discussing real and sometimes uncomfortable situations. Participants can look forward to gaining confidence and proper self-defense techniques. Classes fill up quickly, so those interested are encouraged to reserve a spot on renzograciesnoqualmie.com. Paul Zerdin: Join the Snoqualmie Casino on Sep. 7 for a night with ventriloquist Paul Zerdin. Zerdin placed first in the 2015 season of America’s Got Talent and is a must-see for anyone who likes a good laugh. Tickets are available on the casino’s website. Fall City Apple Festival: Head over to the Northwest Natural Horsemanship Center, 32925 SE 46th St. in Fall City, on Sep. 15 for the Fall City Apple Festival to celebrate the bounty of the Snoqualmie Valley apple harvest. The family-oriented festival promises live music, tasty desserts, horse rides, a hard cider-tasting garden, vendor booths and more. While admission is free, any proceeds from food sales, horse rides, contest entries and vendor booth fees benefit the Warrior Family Retreat.
