Story of “Zelda” at Valley Center Stage

Denise Paulette, an actress and Snoqualmie resident, is performing her one woman show, “Zelda,” for one night only, Saturday, Feb. 21, at Valley Center Stage in North Bend.

Written by William Luce, “Zelda” is the story of Zelda Fitzgerald. As the wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald, she found herself his muse for what Scott wrote about and lived: The Jazz Age. In and out of sanitariums for 17 years, Zelda struggled not only with her mental illness but also the common human threads of unrequited love, growing old, lost dreams and ultimately her own mortality.

As a writer, painter and ballet dancer, “Zelda” is her story of passion, wit, determination and living in one’s art, no matter the situation.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Hear Celtic strings at free concert

Fall City Arts is sponsoring a free concert by Celtic band Magical Strings in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

The concert is 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Chief Kanim Middle School Commons.

With dancing hammers and pulsating strings, the distinctive music of Magical Strings has been described as warm, graceful and sonically gorgeous.

Centered around a tightly-knit blend of Celtic harps and hammered dulcimers, the band’s performances are colorfully augmented by pennywhistles, concertina, valiha or Malagasy harp, and dancing. Over the past 25 years, they have drawn a following worldwide, both through their energetic arrangements of Celtic music and their own engaging compositions, intertwining Celtic roots with classical and world music influences.
