• After 10 years of study, King County is ready to begin using sludge to grow trees on forest land. Three of the potential test sites, including the preferred parcel, are in the Snoqualmie Valley area. Sludge is the solid material that settles out of waste water during the treatment process. In the past, it was dumped into Puget Sound.

• “Apocalypse Now” should continue to be shown in a senior class at Mount Si High School, a school district committee has advised. The district’s Instructional Materials Committee voted to allow the R-rated film in an advanced language class despite protests from several parents.

• The Valley is right in step with the air age, for gradual improvements are under way at the Snoqualmie Pass airport at Edgewick. Seven Valley men are using the airport right now, landing their own planes there.

• Snoqualmie Valley Moose Lodge No. 1666 will take part in a nationwide program known as the “Easter Car-lift.” The program is designed to allow any shut-in or aged person to attend Easter church services by providing a ride. This service has been provided in the Valley for the last two years.

• The pupils of the first grade of the Snoqualmie School recently made an industrial tour of Consolidated Laundry and later compiled their impressions of the trip in an attractively illustrated folder. The operations of cleaning, drying and mangling were made clear with pictures drawn by the pupils.

• Mrs. R.D. Sawyer of the Snoqualmie Valley Record staff, who has been ailing for some time, was taken to the Seattle General Hospital Wednesday afternoon to submit to a specialist examination and observation.
