On Saturday, Nov. 13, volunteers are needed to help bring Hawaii to North Bend in the 5th Annual Winter Pineapple Classic event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Washington/Alaska Chapter.
The fun run starts at 9 a.m. at the Mountain Meadows Farm.
The Hawaiian-themed fundraiser is a 5k fun run event, which features an array of obstacles throughout the course that include a climbing wall, rope ladder, tire swing and many more surprises. To top it all off, at the end of the race, volunteers will be rewarded with a ticket to a Hawaiian luau that features free food and drinks.
Many volunteer opportunities are available, including monitoring of course obstacles, helping with food service, event set-up, and several others. Whether you are an individual, or belong to a group that might be interested in participating, opportunities are open to all. We just ask that you have fun and help support the fight against blood cancers.
The Winter Pineapple Classic has raised more than $1.4 million for LLS’ mission. Last year more than 3,000 participants donned grass skirts, costumes and even a bikini or two as a way of
welcoming the winter season. Additional information can be found at www.winterpineappleclassic.com.
