A speed problem

Accident-prone neighborhood: A driver, who witnesses said was under the influence of alcohol, crashed into two driveways in the Riverbend neighborhood of North Bend at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12. One neighbor's driveway barrier (above) and another's Ford truck were damaged in the accident. Observers estimated that the Chevy Blazer was traveling down 149th Street at more than 50 mph, in a 25 mph zone. Some said the truck was fish-tailing recklessly. This is one of several vehicular accidents in the last few years for this neighborhood, located in the 43800 block of Southeast 149th Street.

"They say most accidents happen close to home, but this was just a little too close," said Dave Hamodey, whose property was damaged.

For some time, the Riverbend Homesites Association has been trying to get county help in slowing down traffic on this particular road.
