Arnold to helm King County elections department

After a long search, the King County Elections department announced that Evelyn Arnold has been selected as the new Superintendent of Elections.

After a long search, the King County Elections department announced that Evelyn Arnold has been selected as the new Superintendent of Elections.

Arnold, a native of Washington, is currently the auditor for Chelan County, an elected office that she has held since 1990. She previously served as a staff accountant for the Chelan County Auditor’s office as well as a business manager for several private businesses in Cashmere, Wash. She was named County Auditor of the Year in 2004 by the Washington Secretary of State.

Arnold “brings an outstanding array of skills and a proven track record to the position as well as knowledge of Washington state election law,” Elections Director Sherril Huff said.

The Superintendent of Elections, a position that is subject to council confirmation, is responsible for overall executive level management, oversight and planning for the conduct of local, state and federal elections in King County. This position supervises the functions of voter registration, mail ballot processing and delivery, and election operations.

Pending confirmation, Arnold will begin her new position in late September.
