Interim Snoqualmie Fire Chief Mike Bailey, who has been leading the fire department on a temporary basis for the last few months, was given the chief job on a permanent basis Monday.
The Snoqualmie City Council unanimously confirmed his appointment at its meeting on Dec. 11. Bailey takes over the full-time role effective immediately.
Bailey has been a member of Snoqualmie Fire for over 25 years, spending much of the last four as deputy fire chief. He took over the chief position on an interim basis earlier this year, following the resignation of Mark Correira in June.
Bailey also served as interim chief for nine months in 2021, after Correira was appointed to fill the city’s vacant city administrator position.
According to the city, Bailey graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Political Science and his an Executive Fire Officer with the National Fire Academy.
“I’m honored to be chose to lead the amazing men and women of this department forward,” Bailey said in a news release. “The Valley has been my home for 25 years and I look forward to continuing to serve the residents in a new role.”
Bailey’s appointment marks the first time since early July that the city has had both its fire and police chief roles filled on a permanent basis. Police Chief Brian Lynch, who had been serving as interim-chief, took over the role on a permanent basis last month.
