Ballarat to close for repairs

North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing, Public Works Director Ron Garrow and City Councilman Mark Sollitto were present at the July 6 groundbreaking for the Ballarat Avenue project. The project will add a sidewalk to Ballarat, straighten the road to help sight lines and add a culvert to help the city handle flood waters. The nearly $600,000 project, paid for with both city and state funding, will be the first road construction in North Bend since 1998.
A portion of Ballarat from Sixth Street to Eighth Street will be closed from Aug. 2-6 for construction. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September.
