The former Snoqualmie Library may find new life as a branch of Bellevue College.

The city of Snoqualmie has had preliminary talks with the college about a possible library site for a job recruitment center.

Mayor Matt Larson said the possibility came up during a May conversation with Bellevue College president Jean Floten on the future of the Interstate 90-Snoqualmie Parkway interchange.

With the college exploring a new extension site in Issaquah, Larson suggested that the city could go one better by leasing the 2,000 square foot library space.

The newly surplused library building, located at River Street and Olmstead Avenue has about double the space of the Issaquah site. The city would ask that upkeep of the building be provided.

“We’re cognizant of the fact that we could be sitting in that building for two years before we execute a sale,” Larson said. “It would give them a chance to test the market.”

While parking for a branch campus has not been discussed, a lack of dedicated spaces has been a non-issue at the new city hall, Larson said. The city, he said, has abandoned its original strategy of asking employees to park outside the city hall campus.
