The King County Sheriff’s Office has retrieved the body of a missing Bothell man who drowned in the Snoqualmie River near Fall City.

Sheriff’s deputies pulled the body of John Austin Sharrar, 29, of Bothell, from the water around 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, after a private group in a boat notified them that they’d found him. Sharrar’s body was found about 50 feet from shore, in about four feet of water.

According to responder reports,  Sharrar was swept away by the fast-moving river around 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22. Sharrar and his girlfriend had both waded into the river to help their dog, who appeared to be struggling in the current.

The woman was rescued. The sheriff’s search for Sharrar had been called off May 23.
