The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the body found last week in the Snoqualmie River near North Bend.

The body of Harlan Wilson, 39, of North Bend, was found Wednesday evening, July 7, by a man who was recreating on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River near Mount Si Golf Course, under a jumble of logs and brush. A couple who was walking nearby reported the discovery to King County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Urquhart told the Valley Record that Wilson had been reported missing more than a month earlier.

Medical examiners estimated the date of Wilson’s death as June 5. How he died won’t be known until mid-September, investigators said.

The discovery of Wilson’s body came during a week of hot weather that made for dangerous situations on local rivers.

On Friday, Fall City firefighters rescued a very inebriated man, about 25 years of age, who had been found alone on the bank of the Snoqualmie River west of Snoqualmie Falls.

He was floated to a safer place near Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course by a pair of rafters, where firefighters found him.

“The river is still running high,” Fall City Fire Chief Chris Connor said. “It’s very, very cold.”

During the rescue, firefighters saw several people, including children, on the river without life jackets.

“That’s just a recipe for disaster,” Connor said. “The river is much more dangerous than it appears.”
