Sunday, June 12

No Room: At 5:10 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Railroad Avenue Southeast and Southeast Beta Street. The registered owner was listed as having a suspended license and a warrant for a third-degree theft. The driver of the vehicle was not the registered owner, but his license was also suspended. Police contacted the Auburn Jail and were advised that there was no room in the jail, and the registered owner should not be arrested. However, they could arrest and release the driver, who would receive a citation by mail.

Saturday, June 11

Over the Limit: At 5:02 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle that had been observed speeding and driving erratically, in the 8200 block of Railroad Avenue Southeast. The female driver ignored the officer’s requests for her license and registration, and put on makeup and responded to text messages before the officer was able to get a response from her. She admitted to being intoxicated and was cited for drunk driving as well as possession of a deadly weapon, brass knuckles found during the investigation.

Clothes Found: At 3:39 p.m., a citizen turned over some dry-cleaning found in the intersection of Baker Avenue Southeast and Southeast Kinsey Street. The clothing was returned to its owner.

Friday, June 10

ID Theft Suspends License: At 10:30 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle believed to be driven by a person with a suspended license, near the intersection of Railroad Avenue Southeast and Southeast Fir Street. The driver identified himself as the registered owner. His license was suspended because of unpaid tickets, but the driver claimed he’d been the victim of identity theft and was trying to clear his license.

North Bend Police Responses

Tuesday, June 21

Shoplifting: At 1:45 p.m., a business in the 400 block of Southwest Mount Si Boulevard reported to police that a suspect had filled a shopping basket with items, then walked out without paying for them. The business had security video and still photos of the incident and police are reviewing them.

Sleeping Under Bridge: At 11:13 p.m. police were contacted about several transients seen sleeping under the bridge at West Park and Bendigo Boulevard. Police advised the sleepers to move.

Saturday, June 18

Forged Prescriptions: At 6:40 a.m., a store in the 400 block of East North Bend Way called police to investigate a suspicious prescription that a customer handed in. Police responded and are now investigating the prescription forgery.

Break-in: At 9:12 a.m., police were notified of a burglar alarm at a residential complex in the 1500 block of Rock Creek Ridge. The night manager had reported to the day manager that thieves had broken a double-paned window in a meeting room and had stolen a computer and flat-screen TV.
