Celebrating their fifth-year anniversary, Cascade View Elementary has a lot to be proud of in their first five-years.

One of five elementary schools in the Snoqualmie Valley School District, Cascade View opened in the fall of 2005 first serving 534 kindergarten through fifth grade students and growing to a school with 725 students.

“We’ve built an outstanding Parent-Teacher-Student Association that has served us from the very beginning,” said Sandy Smelser, school counselor and staff member of the Leadership team for the school’s opening. “We have one of the most exciting relationships with our parents and community of any school that I could ever imagine.”

This year, the school has transitioned into new leadership with Ray Wilson, after founding principle Tim Nootenboom resigned to take a position in Spokane’s Central Valley School District.

Cascade View has built a very tight-knit body of staff and students, benefiting education, and have a lot to be proud of in their first five years, Smelser said.

Anniversary festivities held Friday, Oct. 23, included carnival games, face painting, birthday cake and a raffle to throw a pie at Wilson.
