Snoqualmie Police are investigating a burglary that happened early Thursday, Jan. 6, at Mount Si High School. Investigators believe someone broke into the school’s locked safe room and vaults around 1 a.m., stealing about $2,000 in cash and checks. Stolen currency included payment from parents and students that the school received Wednesday for food services.

Two laptops have been reported missing from a classroom, and a 22-inch television and Xbox 360 system were taken from the ASB student lounge. There was also an unsuccessful attempt to break into the ATM machine in the commons.

The break-in was reported to police after the school’s security alarm went off.

Snoqualmie Police Captain Steve McCulley said the burglar, or burglars, appear to have targeted particular areas.

“I think they knew where they wanted to go,” he said.

Snoqualmie Valley School District spokeswoman Carolyn Malcolm said a limited number of checks were taken; those stolen were marked ‘for deposit only.’ The school will be contacting parents whose checks were stolen.
