Ceremony to break ground on Snoqualmie YMCA

Snoqualmie Valley YMCA and city leaders will toss the first shovelfulls of dirt for construction of the new Snoqualmie Community Center and YMCA at a groundbreaking ceremony, 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Snoqualmie Ridge Community Park. A family celebration follows at 6 p.m., with charter membership sales and information, a bounce house, games, crafts, music and karaoke.

Snoqualmie Valley YMCA and city leaders will toss the first shovelfulls of dirt for construction of the new Snoqualmie Community Center and YMCA at a groundbreaking ceremony, 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Snoqualmie Ridge Community Park.

A family celebration follows at 6 p.m., with charter membership sales and information, a bounce house, games, crafts, music and karaoke.

Families can also register for the YMCA’s Get Movin’ initiative, aimed at motivating families to improve their health by adopting a more active, healthy lifestyle and engaging in more physical activity.

Memorial ride set for Lovett

In memory of Pete’s Club Grill owner Don Lovett, a three-pass motorcycle ride has been scheduled for Saturday, June 11.

Riders can meet at Pete’s in Carnation at 8 a.m., for breakfast before the ride. The route goes north on SR 203, then east on U.S. Highway 2, south to Blewett Pass and I-90, then back to Pete’s. The ride will make a planned stop at the Brick Tavern in Roslyn, which Don’s great-grandfather supplied with bricks.

Lovett, of Snoqualmie, died April 16, following a year-long struggle with colon cancer.

Commencement for Snoqualmie Valley, Riverview class of 2011

Mount Si High School’s graduation ceremony is Friday, June 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Mount Si Stadium, 8651 Meadowbrook Way SE, Snoqualmie.

Admission is by ticket only, and graduating seniors will each receive six tickets for the event.

Commencement for Two Rivers School will be held Wednesday, June 8, at the school this year, 330 Ballarat Ave. N, North Bend. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at 5 p.m. at the school, and the ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

Cedarcrest High School will hold its 2011 graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, at City Church, 9051 132nd Ave. N.E., Kirkland.

Admission is by ticket only. Graduating seniors will each receive 10 tickets.
