The Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps Council, in cooperation with the Washington Health Support Team, invites interested citizens to attend a free seminar series called “Disaster Mental Health.”

The three-part series will train non-professionals in psychosocial support in the aftermath of a disaster. Volunteers will review how to assist health support team leaders in managing disaster-related traumatic stress in the community.

Post-disaster stress affects nearly everyone to some degree. Providing peer support relationships and fostering resiliency leads to an overall decrease in disaster-related stress and is an integral part of the recovery process. The seminars will teach these skills.

The series will be presented in three 90-minute installments, 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 8 and 22 at the Duvall Fire Station and Tuesday, March 15 at the Duvall Library.

All materials will be provided. Participants who attend all three seminars will receive a certificate of completion from Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps Council, Inc.
