Clearing a path

Clayton Littlejohn, left, cuts away pieces of a tree that fell on CenturyTel phone lines after heavy winds hit the Valley last Wednesday. The tree fell around 4 a.m. and Littlejohn said when he was headed to town at 8 a.m., the tree was still blocking the roadway, so he stopped and cleared it in order to get into town. Terry Lobb, right, was on his way to work at Rockwood Farm and helped Littlejohn clear the tree. A spokesman from CenturyTel, Don Neely, said there were no phone outages because of the fallen tree. The cable was just stretched.
