Cops find secret sophisticated treehouse in Snoqualmie | Fire, police blotter

Setting up camp: On Saturday, Aug. 23, a caller told police that someone was building a structure, about 100 feet into a greenbelt, in the 34000 block of Southeast Burke Street, Snoqualmie. The caller heard them using a chainsaw, too. Police investigated and found the beginnings of a sophisticated treehouse at the vacated site. They removed the bucket of tools on site, and left a business card for the occupants, then contacted the city's Public Works department to dismantle the structure.

Saturday, Aug. 23

Suspected drug use: At 12:40 a.m., a business in the 400 block of Southwest Mount Si Boulevard, North Bend, called police about a man who may have been taking drugs in the business restroom. The caller did not see any actual drug use, but thought the man’s behavior was consistent with it, and asked police to remove the man if he came back.

Sunday, Aug. 24

Big bottle: At 11:48 p.m., a caller on Eagle Lake Drive Southeast, Snoqualmie, reported seeing an adult man carrying a giant plastic bottle on a bicycle, followed by two juveniles. The caller said the man claimed he was taking the bottle, almost as big as himself, home to recycle it. Police were unable to locate the subject.

Monday, Aug. 25

Car prowl: At 6:17 p.m., a caller in the 400 block of East North Bend Way, North Bend, reported a theft from his vehicle. Someone had stolen an iPhone from the center console of the unlocked vehicle while the victim was shopping.

Parking problem: At 8:46 p.m., police were called to an assault report in the 46600 block of Southeast North Bend Way, North Bend. They met with the victim, who said the driver of a flatbed truck had scratched him during a verbal dispute over a parking spot.

Thursday, Aug. 28

Beer lift: At 2:38 a.m.. a store in the 400 block of East North Bend Way, North Bend, reported a subject had just shoplifted a case of Keystone Light beer and left the store in a newer Volvo. Police located the car and released the suspect to his parent.

Friday, Aug. 29

Squatting: At 8:35 a.m., a caller asked police to investigate a vacant house in the 7000 block of Cascade Avenue Southeast, Snoqualmie, believing transients were camped inside. Police surprised two people, who’d been sleeping inside, when they investigated. The two adults ran out the back door, and the rest of the home was empty. Police advised neighbors to call whenever they saw anything suspicious.

Saturday, Aug. 23

Alarm: At 4:42 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to an automatic fire alarm at the Woodman Lodge. The alarm was set off by someone cleaning a grill, and there was no fire.

Smoke: At 11:03 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to the area of 384th Avenue Southeast and Roberts Drive for a report of smoke in the air. The reporting party stated that they smelled smoke when they drove across Snoqualmie Pass, and when they arrived in the area of Snoqualmie, they smelled it again and became concerned and called 911. No fire or smoke was found.

Monday, Aug. 24

Yard fire: At 12:27 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to smoldering yard debris on Isley Street. Firefighters used the homeowners hose to extinguish the fire.

Medical calls: In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie firefighters responded to 15 medical aid calls, bringing their total 2014 annual call number to 764.
