Council sets special meeting on police car gear

The Snoqualmie City Council is holding a special meeting, 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, to discuss potential savings in purchasing equipment for police vehicles.

The Snoqualmie City Council is holding a special meeting, 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, to seek potential savings in purchasing equipment for police vehicles.

The meeting was set after council members discussed a resolution to award a contract for police car lighting and console equipment at its Monday, June 22, regular meeting.

The council received a single $14,500 bid to install equipment in new police cars. However, Police Chief Jim Schaffer said the department had contacted a vendor earlier this year that could offer a lower price. The council agreed to postpone its decision until city fleet and police staff could see if a lower price could be found.

Police car consoles include controls for radio, sirens, lights and equipment storage.
