The North Bend City Council is expected to make its decision on whether a hotel should be allowed south of Interstate 90’s exit 31 this week.

The council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Mount Si Senior Center for an anticipated vote on the matter, delayed from a March 2 meeting after council members requested more time to get to grips with the issue.

North Bend business owner George G. Wyrsch has proposed construction of a hotel at the corner of Ribary Way and Bendigo Boulevard.

Over the last six months, the council and city officials have received hundreds of comments and concerns on the proposal. Proponents favor new lodging in North Bend, while opponents have raised concerns over impacts on neighboring homes and the city’s natural environment.

Council members have stated that they are satisfied with the new hotel zoning requirements.
