King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg has until Monday, Sept. 22, to decide whether to seek the death penalty against Carnation murder suspects Michele Anderson and Joseph McEnroe.

Delayed several times this year, Satterberg’s penalty decision was pushed up to September after Anderson, who is accused of killing family members in a grisly Christmas Eve, 2007 spree, fired her attorney in July.

A hearing was held Wednesday, Aug. 20, in King County Superior Court, for Anderson to sort out her legal counsel.

Prosecutor’s spokesman Dan Donohoe said McEnroe kept his lawyers.

Prosecutors have asked defense attorneys to submit any mitigating information by the September deadline.

In January, Anderson and McEnroe pleaded not guilty to six counts of aggravated murder apiece. They are accused of killing Anderson’s parents, Wayne Anderson, 60, and Judy Anderson, 61, and Michele Anderson’s brother, Scott Anderson, 32, his wife Erica Anderson, 32, both of Black Diamond, and their two children, Olivia, 6, and Nathan, 3.
