The death penalty deadline in the Carnation Christmas Eve murder case has been pushed back to August 4.
Originally, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg had to decide by Monday, May 5, whether to seek the death penalty for Joseph McEnroe and Michele Anderson, who are suspected of killing Anderson’s parents, Wayne Anderson, 60, and Judy Anderson, 61, and Michele Anderson’s brother Scott Anderson, 32, his wife Erica Anderson, 32, both of Black Diamond, and their two children, Olivia, 6, and Nathan, 3.Howevr, defense attorneys for McEnroe and Anderson have requested additional time as they compile mitigation reports for review by prosecutors. This is the second extension of the death penalty notice filing.
Satterberg said he agreed to one final extension of the deadline to allow defense attorneys to finish their mitigation package submittals.
McEnroe and Anderson are each charged with six counts of aggravated murder in the first degree.
