Duck race at North Bend festival helps Mount Si Food Bank

North Bend's Emerald City Smoothie is sponsoring a Duck Derby fundraiser, benefiting the Mount Si Food Bank, during the Festival at Mount Si.

North Bend’s Emerald City Smoothie is sponsoring a Duck Derby fundraiser, benefiting the Mount Si Food Bank, during the Festival at Mount Si.

The duck race starts at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, near Si View Park on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. It concludes at the bridge over the South Fork near the Mount Si Senior Center.

Tickets are a $5 tax deductible contribution to the food bank and can be purchased at Emerald City Smoothie, Birches Habitat and Georges Bakery, among other businesses. Additional tickets can be purchased at the Si View Farmers Market, and at the Festival at Mount Si at Si View Park. About 35 prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

Emerald City Smoothie owners said the derby is a way to help those in need during difficult economic times.
