The winter storm that dumped as much as a foot of snow on parts of the Snoqualmie Valley has scuttled regular trash collection today.
Allied Waste announced will not be collecting garbage or recycle in Snoqualmie or North Bend on Thursday, Feb. 24, due to adverse weather.
If weather conditions on Friday prevent safe collection, operations might be delayed or cancelled. Allied Waste has not announced a schedule for Friday but will announce any service delays on its website at www.rabanco.com and on the Regional Public Information Network at www.rpin.org.
For collections missed due to weather, double loads of garbage and recycle will be collected the following week on the customer’s regularly-scheduled pick-up day at no charge.
• Garbage should be placed in securely tied plastic bags next to garbage containers. Residents may place garbage bags in their yard waste container and very clearly mark the container “GARBAGE” with a piece of paper taped to the container; however, placing the bags beside the regular container is preferred by Allied Waste so as to avoid any confusion for yard waste collection drivers this week.
• Recycle should be placed next to recycle containers and secured so that it does not blow away.
Allied Waste states that commercial customers are being serviced as soon as conditions allow safe collection.  Priority service is given to locations such as hospitals and restaurants, where public health is a concern. They ask that customers keep storm drains clear and container access areas free of plowed snow accumulation.
