Snoqualmie Valley Middle School students are invited to Empower Youth Network’s 14th annual “Be the Change Summit” Saturday, March 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Chief Kanim Middle School.
The summit is designed to help youth in grades 6-8 discover inner-strengths and build foundations for leadership.
The program will return to an in-person format this year and is open to middle school students in the Valley, neighboring school districts, private schools and home schools.
The summit will feature Luis Ortega, a multidisciplinary storyteller, TEDx speaker, educator and founder of Storytellers for Change — an organization that teaches the power of storytelling to inspire action and build empathetic, inclusive and equitable communities. Students will also learn from co-facilitators and adult presenters from the community.
Tickets are on sale for $25. Ticket price includes lunch, a t-shirt and a chance to win door prizes. Scholarships are available and encouraged if the fee presents a barrier for attendance. Questions about the summit can be directed to Sara Young at sara@empoweryouthnetwork.org.
