Childfind is a program in the Riverview School District in which the district contracts with Encompass, a non-profit family services agency in North Bend, to provide free developmental screening and evaluation for children, birth to age 3 living in the district, and special education services for children who qualify for these services in their homes.
The district provides monthly screening clinics by appointment for children ages 3 to 5. The screenings are free and are held every month at Carnation Elementary School, taking approximately 30 minute.
During each evaluation, the children will spend time at “stations,” where staff members will evaluate their abilities in such categories as gross motor skills like walking or balance, fine motor skills like writing, cognition, social skills, adaptive abilities, and language skills.
This program offers information and resources related to the earliest possible identification of young children who may benefit from early intervention or special education services.
