Fall City Day is June 11, volunteers welcome to sign up

Fall City Day is the eagerly anticipated start of the summer event for the community and, like most happenings in Fall City, it is put on entirely by volunteers. Some volunteers have been participating for years, others are fairly new, and new volunteers are always welcome.

Fall City Day is the eagerly anticipated start of the summer event for the community and, like most happenings in Fall City, it is put on entirely by volunteers. Some volunteers have been participating for years, others are fairly new, and new volunteers are always welcome.

The Fall City Community Association sponsors the event.

For 2016, volunteers are needed on: Road closures, 6 to 7 a.m., 5 to 6 p.m.; Ducky Derby sales 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Ducky Derby parade entry; Ducky Derby finish line, in the river, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.; Ducky Droppers 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.; and merchandise sales 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To volunteer, contact Judy Dix at tjerdx@comcast.net or Laurie Hauglie at lhauglie@hauglieinsurance.com.

The parade theme is “Animals — All Things Great and Small.” This year, four awards (Grand Marshall’s Award, first, second and third places) will include cash prizes. The Ducky Derby committee needs children, ages 7 to 13, with rubber boots to participate in its parade entry. Children can ride decorated bikes or walk leashed pets in the kiddie parade. Large groups should register in advance by sending e-mail to adonaldson@hauglieinsurance.com.
