Fall City Elementary School is installing new playground equipment this week, in the primary/kindergarten playground area, thanks to the combined effort of the Fall City Elementary PTSA, the Fall City Metropolitan Parks District, and King County.
The current playground equipment is old and dangerous, with pieces missing or broken, and boarded up or taped off for children’s safety. The playground is essential not only to the 650 students attending Fall City Elementary, but also to the community as a whole, since is is the only playground facility within Fall City.
Demolition of the old equipment and installation of the new is expected to be completed during the school’s spring break. Community members are invited to cut the ribbon to open the new playground, Monday, April 9, 9:45 a.m.
With the help of school staff, PTSA, and school families, as well as funds raised from the Turkey Trot, a $1,000 grant from Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association, a $10,000 grant from the park district, and the county’s $45,000 Youth Sports Facilities Grant, the school is receiving the playground equipment at no cost. Pacific Northwest Earth Works has also donated the demolition and removal of the old playground equipment. The school thanks the many organizations and families who made this accomplishment possible.
