Off-duty firefighters with Eastside Fire & Rescue I.A.F.F. Local 2878 will be out collecting donations for the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) “Fill-the-Boot” drive, 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 at Mount Si Boulevard and Bendigo Way in North Bend.
This is the 55th year that the local firefighters association has partnered with the MDA raising money to fight neuromuscular disease. The International Association of Firefighters (I.A.F.F.) is one of the largest sponsors of MDA and off-duty firefighters with Eastside Fire & Rescue will take to the streets to help do their part again this year.
“It is important for citizens to understand that we work and protect the communities we serve, but we also want the public to know that we still have time and a commitment to help raise funds for this worthwhile organization. We know that the public has supported our efforts in years past and we hope for their support again this year,” says Thomas Tull, firefighter with Eastside Fire and MDA Chair for the local.
