With board member Craig Husa stepping down, the Fall City Fire Commission is seeking a new person to fill King County Fire District 27’s vacant position 2 seat.

Husa, who is CEO of General Software in Bellevue, is moving out of the district. He has served on the commission for four years, and won two elections.

Husa told the Valley Record that his departure has nothing to do with the proposed joint agreement with Eastside Fire and Rescue, adding that he is excited about that possibility.

Husa said that potential new commissioners should have a passion for the community and a willingness to pay attention.

As he leaves, Husa said he will remember the people behind the scenes of the fire district.

“I’m really impressed,” he said. “For a small community, that fire district is world class. It’s because of the people. They’re smart and very capable. They really care.”

To be a commissioner, an applicant must be a registered voter living within the district. Interested residents should send a letter of interest to the Board of Commissioners at King County Fire District 27, P.O. Box 609, Fall City, WA, 98024. Letters need to be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13. Candidates should also plan on attending an interview meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17.
