King County could receive $750,000 in federal tax money for flood mitigation in the Shamrock Park neighborhood near North Bend.

Representative Dave Reichert, R-Wash., added money for the project to the homeland security funding bill for 2010.

If Congress passes the bill with the project intact, homes in the neighborhood will be elevated to protect them from floodwater. In the past, Shamrock Park has been flooded by water from the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River to the east and Ribary Creek to the west.

The entire project will raise 50 homes for $5.8 million.
