There were rain clouds in the sky and no signs of summer, but that didn’t stop students from gearing up in their summer best and rushing out the school building doors for what many considered “freedom.”

Fall City Elementary threw an end-of-year awards assembly, recognizing their students’ achievements and showcasing the musical and athletic talents they grew over the year. Students at Snoqualmie Elementary and Chief Kanim Middle School spent their last few hours tidying up their classrooms.

As parents picked up their children, many were already prepared to keep their out-of-school students busy with sports and scout camps and family vacations to warmer places.

Fall City parent Kara Popp said her family will definitely be making vacation plans for someplace hotter than then Valley.

“Maybe somewhere like Hawaii,” she said.
