Residents on Snoqualmie Ridge should be cautious about where their holiday packages are delivered. Several Ridge residents have reported boxes delivered outside their homes being rifled or stolen in the past few days.

Snoqualmie Police received a report from a woman who noticed that someone had rummaged through boxes left on her front porch. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Ridge resident Jack Scheidegger had two packages, containing computer parts and software, stolen from his porch last week. The theft appears to be a first for his neighborhood.

“It got dark enough, and they swooped in and snatched it,” Scheidegger said.

The parts, meant for his PC repair business, probably won’t be much fun for would-be Christmas present thieves — unless they are unusually tech-savvy.

“I think they were probably disappointed when they got home,” he said. “I can imagine the look of shock and disappointment.”

In future, he plans make sure all packages are sent to a safer location. Scheidegger asked locals to be on the lookout for the snatched package, a roughly 12-by-18-inch cube stamped with the New Egg computer store logo.

Snoqualmie Police Department Spokeswoman Becky Munson advises residents to have packages delivered to their workplace.

Snoqualmie Postmaster Bud Quinoveva advises postal clients to make sure boxes are sent to their post office box. If postal mail is stolen, residents should contact the Post Office Inspector’s office at 877-876-2455.
