The Mount Si Helping Hand Food Bank will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the addition to its facilities at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at 116 E. Third St., North Bend.

The food bank has raised more than half of the $90,000 needed to complete the addition, which will enable the organization to distribute food to the hungry more efficiently, said director Gail Gergasko.

The expansion will add about 500 square feet to the facility, which feeds about 250 families each week.

Refreshments will be served following the groundbreaking ceremony.
