Harvest festival at Methodist Church

A harvest festival is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at Fall City United Methodist Church, 4326 337th Pl. S.E., two blocks south of Fall City Cuts. The festival includes a homemade soup and pie lunch, with beverage, for $7.50; takeout is available. There will be crafts, gifts and homemade baked goods. Proceeds benefit the Fall City Food Pantry and a girls’ orphanage in Zambia.

Shelter training at House of Soul

The city of Snoqualmie and the American Red Cross are providing a free two-day shelter training class and simulation in Snoqualmie 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on two Saturdays, Nov. 15 and 22, at the House of Soul, 8032 Falls Avenue in downtown Snoqualmie. There is no cost. The purpose of the class is to prepare volunteers to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a team, and to meet the needs of people displaced by disaster.

Participants will have an opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful shelter operation. They will work in teams to open, operate, and close a typical shelter operation.Both classes must be completed to become a shelter volunteer. A first aid/CPR class will also be required, which will be scheduled at a later date. Space is limited. Participants must register in advance for this free class.
