Biodiesel group

to hold kickoff

A group of Valley residents are forming a network to promote greener fuel in the area.

They plan a kickoff meeting for the Northwest Biodiesel Network, to talk about what they’re doing to get lower transport costs for residents, reduce pollution, help family farmers stay in business, and achieve energy independence. The meeting is 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the North Bend Railroad Depot, 205 McClellan St. in downtown North Bend.

Free regular meetings will follow, 7 to 9 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month at the same location. The meeting is free and open to the public. Visitors can learn about the benefits of using biodiesel in a diesel engine vehicle, biodiesel standards, advances and availability, among other topics. Camp Korey to serve spaghetti

Community members have the chance to check out Camp Korey at an open house and spaghetti feed set for 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Tickets for spaghetti can be purchased at the door for $5.

Camp Korey is a camp for children suffering from serious and life-threatening diseases who enjoy a week of camp activities free of charge. The first group of campers took over the grounds in June.
