Eastside Fire gets equipment grant
Eastside Fire and Rescue got word that it will soon receive a $15,000 Heritage Program Award from the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. The Fireman’s Fund Heritage Program provides firefighting equipment, training and community education programs to fire departments of all sizes across the country. The $15,000 grant award will be used to purchase three evacuation stair chairs that will aid firefighters when moving patients down stairs without carrying or lifting, providing maneuverability in confined spaces. In addition, a thermal image camera will be purchased. The camera helps firefighters find fire victims, and helps measure the integrity of the structure and the danger of collapse, making rescues safer.
