Replacing decaying timbers on a six-decade-old bridge will lead to a three-week closure of a portion of King County’s Snoqualmie Valley Trail in North Bend.

The bridge, located about a mile north of the Main Avenue North intersection in North Bend and just south of the Mount Si Golf Course, was built 61 years ago and has numerous decaying timbers that are posing a safety hazard.

The bridge will be closed as King County crews will replace the decaying timbers and remove all of the decking and handrail along the bridge as part of the work.

The bridge will be impassable for the duration of the repair project, which should be completed by mid-August at a cost of about $65,000. Project costs are being covered by the county division’s capital improvement budget, which is funded by Real Estate Excise Tax funds.
