Valley Hospital
Foundation aids college students
Four students have received financial assistance from Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Foundation to attend a college of their choice.
In the 2009 round of foundation scholarship awards, two of the scholarships were given to dependent children of hospital employees while the other two went to local high school students pursuing a career in health care.
Cayce Munger of North Bend, enrolled as a freshman at Washington State University, was awarded $500. She looks forward to her university experience as a way to develop critical thinking skills and expand her knowledge of different cultures. She hopes to include some study abroad. Cayce is the daughter of hospital radiology technician Kimberlee Munger.
Jessica Lynch of Black Diamond was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. She is attending Western Washington University as a sophomore with English as her major. Her dream is to help educate others with the knowledge she gains by writing novels and poetry. She is the daughter of Angela Lynch, who works in patient insurance verification at Snoqualmie Valley Hospital.
Two additional scholarships were presented to Mount Si High School seniors who are pursuing careers in health care. Ian Smith and Jordan Green were presented scholarships of $1,000 and $500 respectively. Ian is attending Western Washington University and is considering specializing in virology. Jordan is attending Bellevue Community College with plans to transfer to the University of Washington and studies leading to a career in surgery or pediatrics.
Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Foundation was created to show support for the hospital and its clinics, to enhance community connectedness and otherwise benefit the district and the community. For more information, contact Scott Scowcroft at (425) 831-3404 or e-mail to scotts@snoqualmiehospital.org.
