An Arizona man visiting the Goldmyer Hot Springs area with two friends was injured Friday, Aug. 26, when a large cluster of rocks fell onto him.
The man and two friends had been searching for rock crystals, when the rocks fell on him, causing him to fall down a steep slope about 65 feet, according to King County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart.
From the fall, the man had received several broken bones, but he was able to walk. He and his companions walked to a cabin nearby, and called for help.
A Sheriff’s Department helicopter with lift capabilities picked up the injured man and delivered him to North Bend’s Torguson Park, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
