Local family hoping for organ donor for holidays

All Toni Ellington wants for the holidays is a kidney donor for her son, Aaron Douglas, 48, of Snoqualmie Pass.

All Toni Ellington wants for the holidays is a kidney donor for her son, Aaron Douglas, 48, of Snoqualmie Pass.

“He’s my only son, and has an only son of his own to care for,” Ellington said.

Douglas, who has been on dialysis at home for the past four years, is being treated by the University of Washington Kidney Center, but the prognosis is that a donor is needed.

“I retired early to be here for support and to do all I possibly can to help save my son’s life,” Ellington said. She added that she would donate her own kidney, but the doctor’s have ruled out her donation due to her own medical issues.

“If there is anyone out there that is or has thought of making such a gift – the gift of life –we would be eternally grateful,” Ellington said.

Douglas owned Cycle Path Bike and Board in North Bend during the 90s through 2004. He went to school in Enumclaw before opening the business. His son attends school in Issaquah.

“I am following my heart with this request to the public,” Ellington said. “This would give a second chance for my son, as well as for my grandson. Time is getting short. We have to have faith that a donor is out there.”
