Snoqualmie Middle School staff took precautionary measures when a student found a note in the hallway about noon Wednesday, Oct. 21, stating that a bomb was set to go off at 12:20 p.m.
Police were called to check the building, and school officials evacuated the school before the note’s deadline, sending students to the Mount Si High School gym. Once there, they waited to be picked up by parents or sent home on school buses.
Police searched the building Wednesday afternoon, requesting police dogs and handlers to do a more intense search.
“The parents have been notified and they have a great evacuation procedure here (at SMS),” said Assistant Superintendent Don McConkey. “Staff will stay here until all the kids are accounted for and are home.”
McConkey said middle school students behaved well during their unplanned walk to the high school, and that Mount Si staff were accomodating and receptive.
The school district planned to release more information when the search of the building is complete.
