Alexander Smart, a 2004 Mount Si High School graduate, departed in February for three months of initial officer training at Naval Station Newport Rhode Island.

After completing the course at Newport, Smart goes to Pensacola, Fla., to begin initial flight training as a Student Naval Aviator. Graduating from Mount Si, Smart attended Eastern Washington University on a football scholarship. In addition to being named to the dean’s list, multiple times and being selected to the Big Sky Conference All Academic Team Alexander graduated with honors in 2009 with a major in U.S. Government.
