Students with Mount Si High School’s ASB Caucus and Natural Helpers program led a youth suicide prevention program Thursday morning, Dec. 9.

Trained students worked with a representative from the King County Youth Suicide Prevention Program to share information with their peers on depression, stress, suicide risk factors, warning signs, suicidal behaviors and helpful responses. Teachers were there to assist and support students, who could choose whether or not to participate.

The goal of the program was to broaden the knowledge while delivering a message of hope and outreach.

For adults and children, a SafeTalk suicide prevention seminar is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Snoqualmie Middle School.

This program is meant for anyone in the Snoqualmie Valley and Riverview districts who wants to help prevent suicide: front line workers, clergy, volunteers, parents, youth, teachers, law enforcement, and others. Young people age 15 and younger may attend with the consent of parent.
